{"id":14578,"date":"2016-07-11T09:28:56","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T09:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/?page_id=14578"},"modified":"2018-07-04T09:20:20","modified_gmt":"2018-07-04T09:20:20","slug":"activities-school-of-engineering","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/activities-school-of-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"Activities &#8211; School of Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\">The School of Engineering, with the support of its wide <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/collaborations\/partners-school-of-engineering\/\">industry network<\/a>&nbsp;, organises a series of educational activities.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Guest lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aiming to put theory into practice, staff invite in-class guest lecturers, who come from different corporations or academic institutions and bring a flavor of \u201creal\u201d industry practices and latest research findings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Open Lectures, Panels &amp; Forums<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School of Engineering organises open-access events on current issues of Engineering, Production, Construction and Energy.<\/p>\n<p>Recent events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Health &amp; safety in the workplace<\/li>\n<li>Energy conservation in buildings<\/li>\n<li>Engines tuning<\/li>\n<li>The vision zero concept \u2013 the role of engineer in road safety<\/li>\n<li>Current developments in construction technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Seminars &amp; Workshops<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with leading experts, companies and professionals, the School of Engineering organises specialised lab workshops and experiential seminars, linked with the different study programmes, aiming at strengthening student professional skills.<\/p>\n<p>Indicative subjects: Project Management, First aid at Work, Design with Autodesk Inventor, Energy Conservation and Management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Field Trips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School of Engineering organises frequent field trips to industries, research laboratories and companies.<\/p>\n<p>Recent visits: J&amp;P Avax, METRO worksite, Alumil, \u03a4\u0399\u03a4\u0391\u039d, Traffic Management Center of Attiki Odos, Hellenic Petroleum, Testing Research &amp; Standards Center of the Public Energy Coorporation, Elefsis Shipyards, Hellenic Aerospace Industry, Charilaos Trikoupis Rio Bridge, Sotiropoulos Geotechnics Laboratory, Ergotest concrete laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Competitions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Engineering School students have the opportunity to participate in different competitions organised either by Mediterranean College or other institutions. Participation can be either individual or in teams. Irrespective of the result, participation in competitions provides students with an invaluable experience and creates opportunities for networking.<\/p>\n<p>Recent competitions: \u201cEnvironment and Development\u201d organized by the Technical Chamber of Greece, \u201cStudent Recycling Competition\u201d, \u201cSave the Egg\u201d, \u201cSmall Car Racing Contest\u201d, \u201cGrid Bridge Construction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conferences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students have the opportunity to present their projects in the Annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/mediterranean-college\/leading-initiatives\/student-excellence-conference\/\">Student Excellence Conference<\/a>, organised by Mediterranean College, while final year and postgraduate students are encouraged to publish their research outputs in national or international academic conferences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Internships are an integral part in the learning process for Engineering School students, offering different experiences and direct access to employment.
