{"id":27462,"date":"2018-08-06T13:26:32","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T13:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/?page_id=27462\/"},"modified":"2018-08-06T13:27:05","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T13:27:05","slug":"activities-school-health-professions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/activities-school-health-professions\/","title":{"rendered":"Activities &#8211; School of Health Professions"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\">The School of Health Professions organises numerous academic activities with the support of partner clinics and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.medcollege.edu.gr\/en\/partners-school-health-professions\/\">network <\/a>of professionals.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Guest Lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aiming to put theory into practice, staff invite in-class guest lecturers, who come from different practice specialisations or academic institutions and bring a flavor of \u201creal\u201d professional practices and latest research findings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Open Lectures, Panels &amp; Forums<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School of Health Professions organises open-access events on current issues of Health and therapeutic practices.<\/p>\n<p>Indicative recent topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup> Forum on Sports Physiotherapy<\/li>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Forum on Sports Physiotherapy<\/li>\n<li>Rheumatoid Arthritis &amp; Mental Health<\/li>\n<li>Scoliosis: Types &amp; Treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Seminars &amp; workshops<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with leading academics and health professionals, the School organises specialised seminars and workshops, inextricably linked to the offered programmes of study, aiming to advance students\u2019 professional skills.<\/p>\n<p>Indicative topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)<\/li>\n<li>Sports rehabilitation<\/li>\n<li>Baby massage<\/li>\n<li>Bowleg treatment in childhood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Field Trips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School of Health Professions organises field trips to clinics, sports centres and non-governmental organisations. Students participate in guided tours and are informed about how these services operate, acquiring firsthand knowledge from practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Recent visits: Greek Scientific Association of Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy, Down Syndrome Association, Panathinaikos volleyball club, Iraklis FC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clinical Placement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clinical placement is the cornerstone of all programmes in the School of Health Professions, whereby students develop professional knowledge and also gain employment opportunities. Undergraduate students take several different practice placements, in order to engage with all different types of practice in their profession and meet the requirements for registration with the professional bodies. The College prepares students and staff on their expected roles and responsibilities while on placement and manages the whole process closely, according to the partner University practice placement protocol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volunteering<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Voluntary work, applied in a systematic manner in a field related to the curriculum, provides a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience and improve their CV.&nbsp; The School of Health Professions strongly supports volunteerism and students are encouraged to undertake voluntary positions in organisations and support the voluntary activities that are organised by the College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conferences &amp; Poster Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School of Health Professions participates in professional and academic conferences, so that students are informed about current developments in their field and extent their own network.
