The challenges we had to face during the outbreak of Covid-19 were significant, as since 11\/3 until the end of the year, we had to fully convert to online teaching and assessment and rely on our digital platforms and online resources. Our students and faculty have shown incredible flexibility and perseverance, embracing the new digital environment positively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mediterranean College\u2019s staff utilized all the available digital learning tools, which the College has been using for years, and managed to offer our students an exemplary educational experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Asynchronous e-learning tools<\/strong>: enriched digital learning material such as extended notes, audio presentations, video tutorials, were available on our College\u2019s moodle-based VLE (virtual learning environment) for each module.<\/li><li><strong>Synchronous e-learning tools<\/strong>: real-time teaching, with the use of online collaboration platforms, such as Microsoft Teams (Microsoft 365 suite), was delivered for each module.<\/li><li><strong>Digital Library<\/strong>: our students had full access to the partner UK Universities online libraries, with limitless reference material for study and research.<\/li><li><strong>Online pastoral &amp; administrative services<\/strong>: key services, such as those provided by the registrar\u2019s office the Counseling and the Academic Skills Centers, were transferred online.<\/li><li><strong>Online guest lectures &amp; webinars<\/strong>: plenty of guest lectures, panel talks &amp; seminars were conducted through digital nodes.<\/li><li><strong>Online assessment<\/strong>: All written &amp; oral exams were conducted through alternative or distant modes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our student\u2019s positive feedback motivates us to further develop our distance learning services!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>No detriment policy&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The University of Derby has a no-detriment policy in place to implement whenever there is disruption of studies that is significant and unavoidable. During the Covid-19 pandemic, teaching and assessment had to adjust in order to mitigate the impact of coronavirus, considering that both staff and students were impacted in all sorts of different ways.
