1st Keynote Speech (LH2) “Redefining the Boundaries of Education” This keynote address explores the changing realities shaping the lives of younger generations through the lens of economic, social, and political history. Centered on the idea of the “next day,” the talk examines how and why a new era has emerged, how it differs from the past, and what these transformations may mean for the future. The keynote also reflects on the role of education in preparing students, graduates, and educators for a rapidly evolving world. By identifying the defining characteristics of this new reality, the talk invites participants to consider how education can help individuals navigate and shape the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. |

Drawing on the University of Derby’s growing research culture and interdisciplinary endeavours, the presentation highlights how applied research, collaborative partnerships, and innovation-driven initiatives contribute to real-world impact across education, health, business, sport, and community engagement. |
|
14.40 – 15.05 |
2nd Round Table Discussion (LH2) “What Numbers Alone Could Not Explain: The Value of Mixing Things Up in Research” This roundtable discussion reflects on a student-led research project exploring the relationship between social media use, FOMO, emotional engagement, and self-esteem. While the initial quantitative findings produced only partial confirmation of the hypothesis, the subsequent qualitative phase offered deeper insight into participants’ lived experiences and emotional processes. The discussion will focus on what was “missing” from the original quantitative approach and how mixed methods research helped generate a more nuanced understanding of the phenomenon. |

11.45 – 13.40 (Room K3) – Session A1 “Roots and Relationships: Wellbeing, Voices, and Learning Across Early and Formative Experiences” This session moves from the earliest childhood through the family system to early adult psychological consequences of childhood relational ruptures. It tells a coherent developmental story — from the child’s world outward — and foregrounds voices that are often marginalized. This session brings together research that centres children and young people — their experiences, vulnerabilities, educational contexts, and the interventions designed to support them.Chairs: Dr. Thalia Theodoraki & Mr. George Dimitropoulos |

Whether through a thoughtfully designed bag that carries meaning as much as objects, a hydrotherapy clinic reimagining recovery, a dramatherapy intervention in a museum, or research into talent, nutrition, and sport, each presentation asks how we can better serve human potential — physically, emotionally, and aesthetically.Chairs: Dr. Rafailia–Nikoletta Kallioupi, Ms. Fofi Trigazi & Ms. Danai Ioannou |
