Dr. Kouvava Sofia

Dr Kouvava is a special education teacher in primary education. She is a graduate of the Department of Primary Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds postgraduate degrees in School Psychology from the University of Manchester and in Clinical Studies in Communication from the University of Sheffield. She holds a PhD from Harokopio University in Special Education and Social Psychology. She has extensive professional experience in both general and special education, having worked in inclusion classes, special schools, and Centres for Differential Diagnosis, Assessment and Support (KEDDY). She has developed a substantial research and publication profile through contributions to academic journals and participation in both national and international conferences. She has served as a scientific collaborator in two European research projects focusing respectively on the cognitive, emotional, and linguistic development of deaf and hard-of-hearing students and on the vocational training of individuals with intellectual disabilities. In collaboration with the University of Patras, she also contributed to the standardisation of assessment tools for learning difficulties in primary education students. She has taught on programmes related to learning difficulties and the psychopathology of children and adolescents at the ASPAITE and supervised practicum assignments for postgraduate students on the “Education and Culture” programme at Harokopio University between 2016 and 2019.
