Ιoannis Papantoniou received his Diploma/MEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and completed a MSc degree in “Materials Science and Technology” at NTUA. Since 2014 he is a PhD candidate in the Manufacturing Technology Division, School of Mechanical Engineering at NTUA. His research interests lie in the area of composite materials and specifically in the development, properties and manufacturing technologies of metal foams (mainly AL). Metal foams have extensive applications in, inter-alia, the automotive, marine and aerospace industries as they combine light weight and high strength and can absorb energy and noise. Mr. Papantoniou has published several peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals and conference proceedings.
