Maria Kardala is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Department at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh) and holds a Master of Science degree in Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She is currently working on her PhD Thesis at the School of Civil Engineering at NTUA. Her research work focuses on 3D nonlinear finite element assessment of reinforced concrete members and the strengthening of reinforced concrete structures through external confining reinforcement with high deformability fiber ropes. Her research work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. She is fluent in English and has a good knowledge of German and Italian. She is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) and works as a Civil Engineer consultant and Energy Inspector of buildings.
